UAS Mosaic Assignment |
Data for this assignment is provided for the learner, the data was created by a UAV flight of the Southwest Campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College. If the student is interested in meeting the instructor to take imagery with a UAV please contact your instructor. In this assignment the student will stitch together multiple overlapping images to form a mosaic. The applications to be used for this process will be Microsoft ICE and Esri ArcGIS Pro, which can be downloaded from the following location. Each application will be used independently.
Problem
In this assignment a set of UAV imagery must be combined together to create a mosaic. The ICE software provides limited geospatial controls, while the Esri ArcGIS Pro provides extensive geoprocessing tools.
Case Study Requirements
- Create a Microsoft ICE image, provide your instructor with a screen capture of the image or a link to the image (the size maybe to large to post in the class content management system. Discuss any areas in which the mosaic does not accurately align. An image capture tool can be used to highlight areas of poor alignment.
- Create a mosaic using geospatial software, provide your instructor with a screen capture of the image or a link to the image or a map package (the size maybe to large to post in the class content management system. Discuss areas of inaccuracy.
- Show image with tie points
- Show image with seamlines
- Show image with solution points
- Provide a brief report that discusses the methodology as well as errors in mosaic of the imagery.
- Bonus points for DEM creation
Rubric
- 20 percent of the grade based on the ICE image
- 30 percent of the grade based on the geospatial software image
- 10 percent showing image with tie points
- 10 percent showing image with seamlines
- 10 percent showing image with solution points
- 20 percent of the grade based on the analysis of the images.
